In June, 2011, the Clarkston Development Foundation (CDF) hosted a conversation at the Clarkston Community Center. At that meeting, we shared information about CDF initiatives in Clarkston in 4 main areas:

<>Family Advocacy
<>Urban Agriculture
Afterwards, small groups discussed a shared vision of what Clarkston could look like in the future. Since June, 4 different strategy groups have been meeting around the 4 main initiative areas and a number of other small groups have also been making progress on issues of importance in the community.
We really hope that you can attend our next conversation on January 18th, from 6-8pm hosted at and in collaboration with the Clarkston Community Center. The agenda for the evening includes celebrating all the good things going on in Clarkston right now and identifying with you tangible next steps in key areas.
Both exchange of ideas and action are important in reaching our community goals, but this meeting is going to be focused on action. We are eager to build on the good work going on in the community and need each of you at this meeting!
You can help shape the agenda for our time together by selecting 1 topic you are interested in working on in a small group. The top 4 will be chosen as subjects for our discussion groups on January 18th.
While we are using the internet as one way to collect topics for the January meeting, we will also be using live “doodles” like phone calls to ask previous participants questions and we will also have a short check list to use in other meetings occurring in the community. This will help us ensure a wider variety of opinions will be collected
After we have had our small group discussions on the four topics, we will work on one big issue together… creating a Clean Community in Clarkston! (We will discuss recycling, trash, waste disposal and more…)
Childcare will be available and light refreshments as well.

A lot has happened since our last meeting in June 2011. So on January 18, 2012 we will take the following steps to make sure ideas move forward:
**Continue our work in strategy groups around the 4 initiative areas.
**Continue to work with individuals and organizations to see that the ideas generated around the conversation about “Creating a Clean Community in Clarkston” are a part of the ongoing community agenda.
