On March 3rd, a large group of community volunteers met at Indian Creek Elementary to have a clean up day. Around 200 volunteers from the school and around the community did an amazing job of cleaning up the campus.
This work laid the foundation for another group from Campbell University in NC to continue the momentum during their spring break trip and build on the clean campus by creating a walking trail through the woods at the back of the property. Then, the group place 20 newly painted trashcans around the school and the trail at strategic locations.
Now the school campus has a nature trail that can be used for exercise and for instruction with two outdoor classroom for teaching along the trail as well.
Many thanks to all the people who helped make this possible including the Indian Creek Elementary staff, students and volunteers from Campbell University!
