Community Conversation Next Steps

We heard it loud and clear at the most recent community conversation.  Many of you asked:  What are the Next Steps?  In response to the high interest of the community, we have compiled a list of dates to discuss next steps and evaluate where to go.   Below are the dates and times for the Next Steps Sessions.
In coming weeks, we will be in touch with participants to assist with the planning of the Next Steps Sessions so that they reflect the community’s desires.  Thank you for your commitment to Clarkston!

On August 2, 2012, the Clarkston Development Foundation hosted its third Community Conversation.  In previous conversations, the community identified themes/areas on which it wanted to focus and at the August 2nd meeting, prioritized these themes as follows:

  1. Learning
  2. Health
  3. Safety
  4. Connectedness
  5. Well-Fed and Sustainable
  6. Playing and Fit

At the community conversation, participants emphasized the need for action and evaluating progress.  In response, CDF will host a series of Next Steps Sessions focused on the initiative areas referenced above.  The Next Steps Sessions will serve as a space for community members to dig deeper into each area; they will identify and prioritize viable options for action plan implementation in the community.

At prior Community Conversations, participants shared names of individuals they felt should participate in future conversations about each topic.  CDF will work to communicate with the individuals previously listed and invite them to the Next Steps Sessions.  If you know of individuals who have not participated previously in our Community Conversations that should be participating in the Next Steps Sessions, please send CDF the names of those individuals.

Participants also commented at prior conversations on the importance of communication and connection.  Participants expressed an interest in knowing when other groups are meeting and in connecting with others who are working on common areas of interest.  In addition to the work CDF does to connect people on a one-to-one basis, we are evaluating ways to share information and resources with the larger community.

Clarkston is YOUR community
