Friday, February 12: Families, children, and teachers enjoyed the Family Engagement Event at the Clarkston READY School, a part-time free program for three year old children and their families located at Clarkston Oaks Apartments. The parents discussed future workshops (including child development and nutrition), signed up for the Clarkston Day at the Museum field trip scheduled for February 29, and learned about Pre-Kindergarten registration at Scottdale Child Development & Family Resource Center. One goal is to ensure that every eligible child is enrolled in a free Pre-K program, and that they have a smooth transition from the READY School into their new program. The program, now in its 11th month, has served 32 children and their families from Iraq, Somalia, Syria, Palestine, and Burma. AND….the READY School has a waiting list!
