The Clarkston Community Center hosted its 4th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. service day on January 20. In the spirit of For Clarkston, By Clarkston, the event focused on attracting Clarkston residents in addition to volunteers from throughout the area.
The day opened with CCC director McKenzie Wren welcoming everyone and singing “This Little Light of Mine.” People eagerly grabbed trash bags, rakes, and shovels. They set to work on the Community Garden, campus beautification at Indian Creek Elementary, and litter patrol on four different routes. The day included a group of volunteers with the International Rescue Committee which has adopted Indian Creek Road and does regular clean up on the route.
