After 5 months of preparation and classwork, the Urban Agriculture class meeting and working on the front of the Clarkston Community Center finally got to plant some trees this weekend! We planted Mulberry, Persimmon, Cornelian Cherry and Fig Trees!
This is just the beginning. Trees went in this weekend and next month bushes go in with the ground cover and herbaceous perennial plants going in the following month. The plants should thrive, now that we have created a system that is holding rainwater in the landscape itself. We can plant more plants and know that they will have a better chance of success since they have a built in source of water nearby. Oh the logic of it all!!
