CDF wants to thank all the volunteers who helped install the beginning of a food forest/urban orchard on the Clarkston Community Center’s field. They helped put in over 30+ fruit and nut trees as well as berry bushes and fruiting vines. Another sustainable feature of the work today included the work done on installing a Rain Tank for the community garden and using passive rainwater harvesting techniques on the orchard section on the hillside. A special thank you to Benjamin Portwood from Edible Yard & Garden for all his help in planning and coordinating the installation.
We look forward to seeing these food producing plants grow for many years to come and to more events like this in the future!
